Agreement

These terms govern your use of Focus Operator (the “app”) and the focusoperator.com website. By using either, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the app or the site.

Focus Operator is published by Floppy LLC, a California-registered limited liability company. When these terms say “we” or “us”, that’s us. When they say “you”, that’s you.

Using Focus Operator

Focus Operator is provided as-is, for personal use, as a tool to help you spend less time on apps you’ve chosen to spend less time on. Use it as you see fit, within the limits below.

• Don’t use it to harass, intimidate, or surveil another person.
• Don’t add an accountability partner who hasn’t agreed to be one.
• Don’t reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract our backend keys.
• Don’t bypass Apple’s Family Controls protections in ways Apple disallows.
• Don’t use it if you’re under 13 (or 16 where applicable).

SMS notifications

Focus Operator includes an optional SMS feature that allows your accountability partners to receive a text when you end a focus session early. The program works as follows.

How partners are added

To add a partner, you generate an invite link inside the app. You share the link with your chosen partner via your own communication channel (iMessage, email, WhatsApp, etc.) — we do not message them at this stage.

The link opens a public web page on focusoperator.com. The partner sees who invited them, an SMS program disclosure (purpose, frequency, opt-out), enters their own phone number, and checks an unchecked consent checkbox before submitting.

Only after the partner submits the form do we send a single confirmation SMS to confirm the opt-in:

Focus Operator: You’re confirmed as [name]’s focus partner. You’ll get a text when they end a focus session early. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out anytime. Msg&data rates may apply.

What messages partners receive

Confirmed partners receive a single short SMS when the inviter ends a focus session before the planned end time. Message frequency is typically less than five per month, varies by user.

Opt out

Partners can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any Focus Operator SMS. Opt-out is immediate. The partner record and the consent audit trail are deleted from our systems on receipt of STOP. The partner will receive no further messages.

Costs

Message and data rates may apply, depending on the partner’s carrier plan. Focus Operator does not charge for SMS.

Accounts and identifiers

Focus Operator does not require an account. An anonymous owner key is generated on your device and stored in your iOS Keychain. The key authenticates your device to our backend. If you delete the app, the key is destroyed and any future install generates a fresh key.

Intellectual property

Focus Operator, focusoperator.com, the brand, the design language, and all associated software and content are owned by Floppy LLC. We license the app to you for personal use. We don’t license the brand, the design, or the software for redistribution.

Disclaimers

Focus Operator is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not warrant that the app or the website will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose. Focus Operator is a tool, not a treatment for ADHD, addiction, or any clinical condition. It is not a substitute for medical or professional advice.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Floppy LLC, its affiliates, and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, arising from your use of Focus Operator or the website. Our total liability for any claim relating to Focus Operator will not exceed the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months preceding the claim — which, since Focus Operator is currently free, is zero.

Termination

You can stop using Focus Operator at any time by deleting the app. We can suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, if continuing the service becomes legally or commercially impractical, or if your use risks the safety of another person.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California, except where prohibited by applicable law.

Changes to these terms

We update these terms from time to time. When we do, we change the effective date at the top. For material changes we will post a notice in the app. Continued use of Focus Operator after the update means you accept the revised terms.
